Batu Caves - KL Trip

Posted in

Batu Caves is a series of caves and cave-temples, located in KL, Malaysia. The caves are made of limestones which is 400 meters in length and 100 meter in height and is situated on the hill. During our visit, we could see a lot of stones hanging inside the cave. The sun rays were coming in from the top of the cave, which lighted up the entire cave.

I felt nice sitting inside the cave, nature in its divine form. Nobody was scared to walk inside even though there were lots of stones hanging from the top.
I could compare it with our life, in life also we will have lots of problems hanging on the top of our head. Feel comfortable! Know that the nature is there to take care of you, nothing is going to happen to you and realize that you actually are much more than what you think you are!! There were the rays coming from the top of the caves which I could relate to the ray of hopes.

Monkeys Story

Posted in

This one is a story told by my friend Om. You might have heard this before. I loved this one. Hope you will love this too.
Few people put 6 monkeys in a big cage.. and there are 10 steps inside the cage.. on the topmost step they put a banana. Seeing this one monkey jumped to take the banana, immediately they sprayed chilled water on other 5 monkeys. Next day again they placed banana on the topmost step, seeing this one monkey started jumping, but other 5 monkeys pulled him down and didn't allow the monkey to take banana. Third day also same thing happened that 5 monkeys didn't allow other one to take the banana..

Now the fun begins, next day they took one monkey out of the cage, (which was jumping to take the banana), and replaced with another new :) monkey. And when they placed the banana again on the topmost step. The new monkey started jumping to take the banana, but other 5 monkeys stopped the new monkey. Next day again they replaced one of the old monkey. This time also 5 monkeys pulled the leg of new monkey which was trying to take the banana. Process was continued till all the monkeys were replaced.

Even after all the mokeys were replaced one after another, monkeys started pulling the leg of the 6th monkey with out actually knowing the reason.

Moral of the story: (I don't have to tell the moral of the story, You would have experienced this many times.. I have experienced this many times.. he he he.. ;) ))

Navaratri

Posted in

In my school days, Navaratri for me was, days when there is no need of reading books 'officially' at home. On the Vijayadasami day there is ceremony of Ezhuthiniruttu(Vidyarambham) in schools and temples. Vidyarambham is a tradition where kids are formally initiated into the letters of the alphabet. Initiation into the world of alphabets usually begins with the writing of the mantra "Om hari sri ganapataye namah"(ഓം ഹരി ശ്രീ ഗണപതയേ നമഃ) Hari(ഹരി) refers to the Lord, sri(ശ്രീ), to prosperity. The mantra is written on sand or in a tray of rice grains. Then, the master would write the mantra on the child's tongue with gold.

Navaratri is a festival that lasts nine days and nine nights. The word "Navaratri" actually means nine (Nava) nights (ratri). This is celebrated in different styles throughout India.

Navaratri is the worship of the three divine goddesses, Saraswati (Goddess of learning and speech), Lakshmi (Goddess of wealth and prosperity), and Durga (Goddess of strength and courage). It is also said to be the battle that occurred between Goddess Chaamundeshwari and the asura (demon), Mahishaasura. The battle lasted 9 days and 9 nights. Finally, on the tenth day, Goddess Chaamundeshwari killed Mahishaasura. This day is known as Vijayadasami. Vijayadasami means the 10th day of victory.
